CrossWind Technologies, Inc. designs and markets workgroup productivity software for the heterogeneous computing environments of the '90s.
CrossWind Technologies, Inc. was founded in 1989 to develop networked productivity applications. Development on its premier scheduling and task management product, Synchronize, began in the UNIX environment because UNIX offered the most robust technology then available for networked information sharing. CrossWind's technical scope has since been expanded to other operating environments, to enable Synchronize to provide platform independent scheduling, task and resource management throughout the heterogeneous environments found in Global 1000 organizations.
Adherence to existing standards as well as careful evaluation of evolving standards is a crucial element of CrossWind's development strategy. When Synchronize 1.0 first shipped in 1990, it was the first commercial Motif application on the market. In 1992, when the Synchronize 1.2 client/server version was introduced, it was the first scheduling application with a true client/server design. Synchronize's ability to efficiently manage large customer installations is still unparalleled today.
Synchronize boosts enterprise productivity by facilitating communication and leveraging existing staff and resources -- making it a particularly useful solution for organizations with multiple locations as well as organizations downsizing to client-server environments. Synchronize is used in a variety of industries by leading enterprises, including Hewlett-Packard, Motorola, U.S. Defense Intelligence agencies and Wall Street firms. The scalability offered in Synchronize provides a solution that can grow to meet the needs of expanding organizations. The Synchronize customer base includes sites with as few as 10 users, to sites with many thousands of users. Currently, the largest Synchronize site is the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) workgroup automation project which relies on Synchronize as a key component in a geographic information system for 30,000 Forest Service employees in 795 locations.
Because the market for group scheduling has continued to grow at an explosive rate and because Synchronize has remained unchallenged in the large-scale, open systems market position, CrossWind has focused the majority of R & D resources into making Synchronize the price/performance market leader in its product class. Synchronize success in this regard has provided funding for additional product development as well as support for the superior R & D team responsible for ongoing Synchronize enhancement and support.
The architecture of Synchronize's underlying "engine" provides a powerful information sharing and management backbone that is easily generalized for other networked information sharing applications. CrossWind is working to provide additional high performance, corporate productivity tools based on this proven technology.
